The Texas House Democratic Campaign Committee is the only organization dedicated solely to building and maintaining a Democratic majority in the State House. Since its 2003 founding in a hotel room in Ardmore, Oklahoma, by House Democrats who left Texas in order block Tom Delay’s illegal congressional redistricting plan, the HDCC has been one of the most successful Democratic political organizations in Texas.
The Republican agenda of starving public schools, tax cuts for big oil companies and opposition to insurance reform threatens the future of our state. In 2006 and 2008, Democrats defeated a total of 12 Republicans in the House, and corrupt Republican Speaker Tom Craddick’s reign came to an end. In 2010, the HDCC’s focus is winning the final three seats in order to take back the majority in the Texas House.
